Feel Good Friday: Lessons Learned

September 3, 2010

{What happened that made you “Feel Good” this week?  Choose a prompt and link up!}

I will be honest with you, it hasn’t been the most stellar week like the one I had originally planned.

Tyler was sick.

Emily hurt her hand bad, but not quite bad enough to elicit a cast.

And I am just plain exhausted.

Yes, we have had our high points throughout the day, but one night we were all just down and out.

And then we heard it.

Sarah was running around and around and around the house with Millie.  Millie was chasing the jump rope that Sarah was dragging behind her.  The extreme laughter and giggles echoed throughout the house and then Sarah stopped in the kitchen where the three of us were sitting and said,

“I am having so much fun, I just can’t even stop!!”

And that was all it took to lift the three of us out of our funk.

We played and were silly and suddenly we all felt a little bit better.

So on this long weekend, I hope all of you have so much fun, you can’t even stop!

**I  decided to try a different linky this week for Feel Good Friday.  I thought it was kind of neat to see all of the blog buttons.  If you are a participant, please let me know if you like it too, or if you would prefer to just list the links by name only.  Majority will rule.

I love this! There’s nothing like kids and dogs to lift your spirits. Dh used to say, “Who needs TV. We can just watch the kids play with the dogs.” Hope you have a terrific, restful weekend : )

Great story. Sometimes it only takes a little one’s laughter to bring us out of our funk.

Hey was wondering why my linkage didn’t work, lol. I haven’t linked yet, will figure out how. I do like the old way better, but this way might work as well. The only thing that might not work is if the person doesn’t have a button.

Have a safe and great holiday weekend.

It is supposed to take any image from your site and create a button. So that could be your header. It should give you options. Let me know what happens.

Yep, I see that now. I spoke to soon. Kind of cool to see everyones blog button or a picture that they choose to show.

Puppies and 3-yr.-olds are good for bringing you out of a funk. ; )

We have an awesome weekend planned, starting Blue Man Group last night and winding up with the first Razorback football game of the season tomorrow night—all with beautiful temps!

Happy weekend!! ; )

I’m in such a great mood lately I almost played along. If it weren’t for poor timing. I’d have a good post ready.

How precious, Sarah’s words sound destined to become part of your family’s folklore:)

Btw, I love the buttons. Hope you keep them for FGF. I’ve not linked because I’ve just been too swamped to put a coherent words together.

Love the blog buttons! I hope that is the majority feeling. I’m glad your daughter lifted your spirits. Out of the mouths of babes. They certainly can make you see everything in a more positive light.

I’m so glad I read your post tonight. I wasn’t even going to do a feel good friday, because frankly, I couldn’t think of anything and things have been rough. I haven’t really been feeling Horrible about things, just…like things are tough. But after reading your “lesson learned” I realized that’s what gets me laughing at times – just having the grandchildren around can make me laugh a lot. Watching them, interacting with them ( and I tend to revert to some serious childishness!lol) can do it, then I realized things were rough, but they also worked out. THEN I realized – even though I’m so worn out and hurting by the time I get home from work – Hey! I work with CHILDREN – and even tough I have to deal with some strange adults sometimes – the children make all the pain and tiredness worth it – so far. When I get to the point where I can’t enjoy a day with kids – tha’ts when it’s time to go on disability or retire. Until then, I’ll continue pushing my self to go to work and letting the kid energy lift me up. THANKS SO MUCH!

For the link buttons – I used a picture of my two grandchildren when Liliana was just over a year old, and Elliott was around five months old. He was already almost as big as her there, but she HAD to hold him and help feed him. She’s always been into babies – even when she was still a baby and to this day, they have a love-love-hate-love relationship.
